Reflecting on 3 years with Style Decoded, Personal Styling Business
On Aug 20, 2020, I set up my card table in an empty room in my basement, and my styling business - Style Decoded - became official. It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 years! On that day, I left a 20 year career in marketing to pursue my first greatest love: Style.
I remember many years prior, having co-workers ask me to help them put outfits together in their closet, or to shop with them. At the time, I scoffed and thought, “AS IF that could be my life, let alone a career!!” I shoved it off as a pipe dream; unattainable and unrealistic. I was moving up the ladder in what I thought was my dream career.
Of course, as the universe always works, the idea of style as a career kept nudging, asking me to pay attention. The universe knows I need multiple clues and knocks to the head in order to wake up and open my eyes to a new reality.

The dream of being a Personal Stylist becomes a reality
When 2020 arrived, my whole world got shaken up - as all ours did. And when I was at a pivotal moment in my career, I confidently say yes to creating my styling biz.
Style Decoded combines my two passions: Branding and Style. For 20 years I branded and marketed everything from Fortune 500 companies to entrepreneurs, and now I prefer to meddle in a very niche part of personal branding: your style.
My styling services were created with busy, professional women in mind who are leading companies and teams, who are entrepreneurs and small business owners. It's my joy to help these women show up as the bosses that they are, without the hassle. It's important to me to help my clients discover and then own their unique, authentic style. I believe that's where their true power lies, in aligning their insides with their outsides.
A promise I made to myself
When I started, I promised myself, “If I ever dread getting out of bed to push this business forward, that’s my sign it’s not worth pursuing.” I knew this dread well from other jobs I held and I had no desire to be in that spot again. Three years later, I still haven’t woken up with feared dread!
I won’t pretend there hasn’t been ups and downs. (If you’re an entrepreneur, you know.) But I’m still inspired to be offering my skills to the world, and watch my clients’ lives transform as a result of claiming their personal style.
So join me in celebration today! 🥳 (This feels awkward, but I’m doing it anyway!) Thanks to all who supported me and continue to cheer me on, on my best and worst days.

Hi, I'm Ellie! I'm an Expert Stylist and Personal Brand Coach, and owner of Style Decoded, based in Omaha, NE. I'm a Midwest born fashion lover on a mission to help professional women show up with more authenticity and alignment at work and in their businesses through their style, and feel 100% confident in their own skin every day. Styling is my passion but it hasn't always been my job. I spent 20 years of my career in client service, advertising, developing brands, blogging, podcasting, and creating marketing and social strategies for my clients, ranging from Fortune 500 giants to individuals building their personal brands online. To say I know a thing or two about marketing and branding is an understatement! Now, I love teaching women how to define and own their unique personal brand through style.
